Recurring Expenses

Why this feature?

You've probably experienced this before: a forgotten Netflix subscription, rent not yet logged in the budget, or that annual insurance that always comes back as a surprise. What if all these recurring expenses could be added automatically, at the right time, without having to think about it? That's exactly what this feature does.

Recurring expenses are here to ease your mind, save you time, and ensure smooth budget management—whether you're doing it alone or with others.

What it allows you to do

With this new feature, you can create series of expenses that repeat automatically at the frequency of your choice: weekly, monthly, or yearly. Each occurrence becomes a full-fledged expense, visible in your lists like any other—with a bonus: it’s part of a series that you control from start to finish.

You decide everything: the amount, the participants, the start date, the duration... And if one month you want to adjust an expense (or skip it), no problem. You stay in control at all times.

Usage examples

Here are a few real-life scenarios:

  • Julie shares her Netflix subscription with Maxime. She creates a recurring expense every 5th of the month, split evenly between the two of them. No need to think about it anymore—it’s automatic.
  • Thomas tracks his personal finances: he adds his rent as a monthly expense, 100% for himself. Everything is under control.
  • Marine thinks of her car insurance, which she pays once a year. She creates an annual expense, which she can update if the amount changes the following year.
  • And if one month, Maxime doesn’t want to include a specific expense (vacation, break, etc.), he can simply delete that specific occurrence without affecting the rest of the series.

What you gain

It’s simple: more peace of mind, fewer forgetful moments, and a better view of your finances in the medium and long term.

Recurring expenses allow you to:

  • Clearly visualize your upcoming fixed charges
  • Automate regular expenses so you don’t have to add them every time
  • Keep a fair balance between participants without manual recalculations
  • Reduce forgetfulness and little misunderstandings (“You didn’t add Spotify this month?”)

In short, it’s the end of repetitive tasks and the beginning of truly serene budgeting.

How it works

When creating an expense, you can now enable the "Recurring" option. Then, choose the frequency (e.g., monthly), the duration (e.g., for 6 months), the split (e.g., 50/50 with Maxime), and that’s it.

All occurrences are created at once, visible in your usual lists. Each expense is independent: you can edit just one, all of them, or only the upcoming ones.

And to make sure nothing is missed, you'll get a notification the day before, and your co-budgeters will get one on the day itself, just like with any other expense.

A step toward smoother budgeting

Recurring expenses are more than just automation. They’re a solid foundation for better anticipation, better collaboration, and better financial control on a daily basis.

And this is just the beginning: this feature paves the way for even more flexibility and intelligence in your budget management. One day, you might be able to pause a series, preview it before confirming, or even detect repeated expenses automatically…

In the meantime, give it a try—and take a deep breath ✨
